How to Install Chain Link Fencing: Step-by-Step Guide
A practical guide to installing chain link fencing in Kenya — posts, straining, mesh attachment and finishing tips for a professional result.
Before you start
Confirm your chain link specification — gauge, mesh size, height and total length — before ordering. Imara Wires supplies rolls in standard 18-metre lengths from our Syokimau factory.
Step 1: Mark the boundary
Stake out corners and gate positions. Measure total length and calculate post quantities (typically every 3 metres for 6ft fencing).
Step 2: Set straining posts
Install heavy straining posts at corners, ends and gate posts. These take the tension of the mesh and straining wire.
Step 3: Line posts and straining wire
Space line posts evenly. Run top and bottom straining wire before attaching mesh.
Step 4: Attach chain link mesh
Unroll mesh along the line, tie to straining wire with fence ties, and tension progressively. Overlap rolls slightly at joins.
Step 5: Finishing
